David Krejci scored a goal and added two assists as the Providence Bruins beat the Sound Tigers 4-2 Friday night at Arena at Harbor Yard. Jeff Tambellini is now on a two game goal scoring streak as he netted both Sound Tiger goals tonight. The Sound Tigers hosted the second annual Connecticut Polar Bears Opening Ceremony during the first intermission with teams from around the country coming out to take part in the event.

Providence took the 1-0 lead early in the first period as Krejci intercepted a pass at the Sound Tigers' blue-line and walked into the slot where he ripped a shot over Sound Tigers' starting goaltender, Mike Morrison's blocker. The goal was short-handed and came at 4:47 of the opening frame and was Krejci's seventh of the season.

The Bruins would take a 2-0 lead when Jeff Hoggan scored his fourth tally of the season at 4:21 of the second period. T.J. Trevelyan and Bitz picked up assists on the goal.

Tambellini cut the lead in half at 2-1 when he scored his 16th goal of the season, 6:34 into the middle frame. The Sound Tigers' leading scorer was parked in the high slot as Mark Wotton sent a shot towards Providence goalie Tuukka Rask where he tipped the puck out of mid-air under the Bruins' net-minder. Frans Nielsen also had an assist on the goal, along with Wotton.

The Bruins made it 3-1 five minutes later while on the man-advantage when Brett Skinner came across the line and blasted a shot under Morrison's arm and into the back of the net for his third goal of the season. The power-play goal was assisted by Pascal Pelletier and Krejci as the teams headed into the third period.

With just under five minutes remaining in regulation time, Tambellini got his second goal of the game while the Sound Tigers were on the power-play tightening the score to 3-2. After Jeremy Colliton's initial shot was kicked out into the slot by Rask, Tambellini crept in from his half-wall position on the man-advantage and put home his 17th goal of the season. Steve Regier and Colliton collected the assists.

Providence would diminish any thoughts of a Sound Tiger comeback when the team's leading scorer, Pelletier, scored his 20th goal of the season on an odd-man rush with Krejci. Martins Karsums picked up the second assist on the goal at 18:56, sealing the 4-2 victory for the Bruins.

The Sound Tigers finished 1-for-5 on the power play, while the Bruins were just 1-for-8. Morrison made 24 saves on 28 shots and while Rask 21 of the 23 shots he faced in the game.

For the second time this season, the Hartford Wolf Pack will make a trip to Bridgeport to take on the Sound Tigers tomorrow night. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

Buckets Off: For the second consecutive game Jeff Tambellini took part in warm-ups without his helmet. The move seems to be working as in the game Wednesday night against Hershey he scored two goals and two assists. Tambellini was able to duplicate that success in tonight's game as he scored both Sound Tiger goals.

Game Operations: The opening ceremonies were held this evening for the Polar Bear Tournament currently taking place around the state of Connecticut. During the first intermission representatives from each team were introduced and carried their team flags to the center circle. Between the second and third periods some of those same players participated in a team tricycle race with the Red Team winning over the Yellow and Green Teams. Always the team player, Sound Tigers' mascot, Storm, was seen helping the Green squad make a comeback at the end of the race.
