Steve Regier scored in his first home game since returning from injury in the Sound Tigers' 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Phantoms, Wednesday night. The goal was Regier's second in as many games after being sidelined for two weeks with a broken thumb. Joey MacDonald finished with 33 saves for his second straight win for the Sound Tigers.
The Sound Tigers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Jeremy Colliton beat Philadelphia's goaltender, Brian Boucher, 1:41 into the game. Colliton received a pass from Steve Regier at the Sound Tigers' blue-line, skated into the Phantoms zone and put a back-hander under the blocker of Boucher for his sixth goal of the season.
Ben Walter made it 2-0 when he scored on a rebound at 7:48 of the first period. Trevor Smith picked up a loose puck behind the Philadelphia net and attempted a wrap-around that Boucher kicked out front. Walter broke free of the defenseman in the slot and knocked the puck into the net for his 13th of the year. Drew Fata picked up his fifth assist on the goal.
Over half-way through the second period, Regier scored a power-play goal at 11:39 of the second period, making it 3-0. Regier came in through the slot, received a pass from Frans Nielsen and slid a shot towards on goal. The puck redirected off of Phantoms' defenseman Denis Gauthier and past Boucher for his 12th goal. Jeff Tambellini and Nielsen each picked up their 26th assists of the season with the goal on the man-advantage.
Philadelphia would break MacDonald's shutout bid at 7:39 of the third period to make it a 3-1 game. Frederik Cabana slapped a shot high over the Sound Tiger goaltender's shoulder just above the left circle. Ryan Parent picked up a helper on Cabana's seventh goal of the season.
Andy Sertich put the game away with an empty-net goal with a 1:20 left sealing the 4-1 win for the Sound Tigers. MacDonald stopped 33 of 34 Phantom shot, while Boucher made 20 saves on the Sound Tigers' 23 shots. The Sound Tigers finished 1-for5 on the power-play and a perfect 3-for-3 on the penalty-kill.
The Sound Tigers return to action on Saturday as the Phantoms return to Arena at Harbor Yard at 7 p.m.

Honorable Mention: Dustin Kohn - Increasing his plus/minus rating after having a +2 rating tonight
Game Operations: Between the first and second period, three teams competed in a tricycle relay down the ice. As usual, team mascot, Storm, helped one of the teams, but to no avail as his teammate finished second despite his help. The second intermission saw a new game hit center ice, musical chairs. Just as in the tricycle race, Storm tried to take part in the fun, but was eliminated in the third round after failing to secure a seat from one of the game's other participants.
Hall of Fame Help: Islanders legend and member of the Hockey Hall of Fame Bryan Trottier joined the Sound Tigers' coaching staff behind the bench for tonight's game. This is the third game that Trottier has been a member of the coaching staff, and the team is 3-0 with him behind the bench.
