SOUND TIGERS AHL MAN OF THE YEAR

Mar 27, 2008

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers are proud to announce that right wing Pascal Morency has been named the team's winner of the American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the Bridgeport community during the 2007-08 season.

Morency is always willing to help out in the community. He has quickly become one of the most popular players in the franchise's history, known for his friendliness towards fans. Every time the Sound Tigers hold a team event for the general public, a community group, or the season ticket holders, Morency is always the first one in the door and the last one to leave.

Over the past season with the Sound Tigers, Morency has participated in many community service projects, including school readings, hockey clinics, fan-related events, hospital visits, a toy drive, and many more. While recovering from a broken/infected hand this season, he made several visits to schools and community groups with his hand in a cast. The picture fans remember most was when he would get into a fight or scored a goal, Morency always grabbed the Sound Tigers crest and showed it to the fans, in recognition of how proud he was to wear the Sound Tigers' jersey.

In recognition of his efforts, Morency will be presented with an etched crystal trophy during an on-ice presentation prior to an upcoming Sound Tigers home game.

Morency is now one of 29 finalists for the AHL's 2007-08 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year. The league award is named after the former Hershey Bears forward and AHL All-Star who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. The winner of the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award will be announced by the AHL in the coming weeks.
